Spamtitan is a great anti-spam/anti-virus mail product, BUT I do have some remarks…
As I had some mail problems with a server today, and I really had no idea what the problem was I decided to take a look at the maillog on the mail relay (well duh). When doing this I ran into some annoying things:
- I had to wait hours(okay maybe I’m exagerating a bit here) for the logfiles to load via the webinterface…
- I discovered the “Perform: Download selected” and “View realtime” buttons rather late, they could have accentuated these rather important functions a bit more!
Then, when I downloaded the log I realized that I didn’t have to wait as long as when I pressed ‘View’ on the running maillog, BUT now I had a static logfile. So, I went on and pressed the ‘View realtime button’. Yes! This is what I needed, at least they thought about that, way to go Spamtitan! The only problem here is that Firefox(and I guess every other browser out there) doesn’t ‘follow’ the realtime logfile. I mean: You have to manually scroll down every time data is appended to the log file. Not really handy.
So I went on and SSH’d to the spamtitan box with the admin account but I am sorry to say that there is no choice to view the maillog in the menu you get when logging in. So I would like to ask Spamtitan:
Please, do create such a menu entry which tails the maillog, or add some kind of neat ajax stuff to the webinterface so that we don’t have to scroll manually.
I guess the first choice is easier.
